Terry James Dillon is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the University of York. His research focuses on gas phase kinetics, photochemistry, and atmospheric chemistry, with particular emphasis on radicals, halogens, organics, greenhouse gases, and oxidation processes in clean-air environments. He leads projects such as the INGENIOUS initiative investigating indoor air pollution and collaborates on studies of green solvents and indoor air quality modeling.
Key projects include the validation of Lagrangian stochastic methods for indoor air quality and the degradation of new green solvents. He has contributed to datasets on Arctic iodine speciation and global VOC emissions. Dillon actively participates in outreach activities, including primary school science days and Clean Air Day initiatives, promoting public engagement with environmental science.
He has supervised research projects involving students like Metcalf and Winkless on atmospheric chemistry topics and holds grants from the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and STFC. His work bridges fundamental chemical kinetics with applied environmental challenges, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration.
