Terrie E. Moffitt is the Knut Schmidt Nielsen Professor and Nannerl O. Keohane University Professor with appointments at King's College London (MRC Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry Centre) and Duke University (Departments of Psychology and Neuroscience, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and Institute for Genome Sciences and Policy). She directs the Environmental-Risk Longitudinal Twin Study and co-leads the Dunedin Multidisciplinary Health and Development Study, tracking birth cohorts across decades.
Her research examines the interplay of genetics and environment in shaping mental health and behavior across the lifespan, with focus areas including:
- Developmental trajectories of psychopathology
- Antisocial/criminal behavior etiology
- Neuropsychological assessment methods
- Impact of childhood adversity on adult outcomes
- Statistical modeling of longitudinal data
Major honors include:
