Teresa Winfield serves as Associate Faculty at City University since January 2020, teaching in the MC Program with 25 years of clinical social work experience across hospitals, schools, residential treatment facilities, private practice, and non-profit organizations. Her expertise spans trauma-informed care and therapeutic interventions for diverse age groups.
She holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) and is a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW), currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education specializing in Counselling Entrepreneurialism.
Her research examines connections between leadership and counseling for vulnerable clients, focusing on innovative mental health program design. Clinically, she integrates EMDR, ego state work, solution-focused therapy, and narrative therapy to address anxiety, stress, relationship issues, and sexual concerns through a trauma lens.
Winfield teaches Psychology of Sexuality, Brief Therapy, and Practicum courses, emphasizing real-world application through storytelling and discussion. Her teaching philosophy centers on connecting theoretical concepts to student experiences while adapting to individual learning needs in clinical supervision.
