Teresa L Michals is a Professor in the Department of English at George Mason University. Her research spans the history of children's literature, 18th-century British literature, and disability studies, with a focus on age, identity, and bodily representation. She has authored two monographs: Books for Children, Books for Adults: Age and the Novel from Defoe to James (2014) and Lame Captains and Left-Handed Admirals: Amputee Officers in Nelson’s Navy (2021).
