Tellen Demeke Bennett

Professor Tellen Demeke Bennett is affiliated with the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Biomedical Informatics, and serves as Vice Chair of Clinical Informatics. He is also a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics (Critical Care) and an Attending Physician in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

Professor Bennett’s research focuses on Clinical Informatics, Data Science, and Pediatric Critical Care. He has developed data-driven models for pediatric sepsis criteria, clinical decision support tools, and machine learning applications in critical care. His work includes traumatic brain injury monitoring and post-ventilation recovery trajectories.

His publications span machine learning in sepsis detection, phenotyping ICU patients using EHR data, and validation of pediatric sepsis criteria. Key trends include clinical decision support systems, multi-center data collaboration, and real-world evaluation of pandemic treatments.

Professor Bennett leads NIH-funded studies such as K24HL168225 on Mentoring and Patient-Oriented Research in Clinical Informatics and R01HD105939 on Pediatric Sepsis Criteria. He also directs the Informatics Core for the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute.
