Tea Alagic

Tea Alagic is a Professor of Directing and Collaboration at The New School for Drama, part of The New School in New York City. She has been a faculty member since 2012 and served as Head of the Directing Department for both BFA and MFA programs from 2016 to 2020. Alagic is an internationally acclaimed, multilingual director with credits spanning Off-Broadway, regional, and international productions in traditional and devised theatre.

Her research interests focus on collaborative theatre practices and innovative approaches to directing, blending traditional and experimental methods. Alagic’s work emphasizes cross-cultural storytelling and interdisciplinary performance. She received the Julian Milton Kaufman Prize in Directing during her time at Yale School of Drama.

Teaching & Leadership: Alagic has led academic programs and mentored students in directing, contributing to the development of future theatre artists. Her administrative roles reflect her commitment to shaping curricula and fostering collaborative environments.
