Dr. Tara Prescott–Johnson is a Continuing Lecturer in the Writing Programs at UCLA, part of the Humanities Division within UCLA College. She teaches courses such as English Composition 3DX (Community Engagement & Diversity), Honors 50: Creating Your Roadmap, and Honors 87W: Exploring Hugo Winners. She mentors graduate student instructors in teaching English Composition 3.
Education: B.A. in English (Creative Writing emphasis) from UCLA, M.A. from Johns Hopkins University's Writing Seminars, and Ph.D. in English (20th-century American literature) from Claremont Graduate University.
Research interests focus on literature, gender studies, and pop culture analysis. Her publications include Streaming the Sandman: Essays on the Netflix Series, Gender and the Superhero Narrative, and Poetic Salvage: Reading Mina Loy.
Awards: Three-time recipient of the Robert M. Stevenson Faculty-in-Residence Award and 2022 UCLA Distinguished Teaching Award. Known for campus partnerships creating unique courses and her TEDxUCLA talk on personal pathways in academia.
