Tara Lagu is a Lecturer at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, with appointments in Hospital Medicine and Implementation Science. A pharmacist, hospitalist, and health services researcher, she focuses on improving quality of care, access, and coordination for vulnerable populations, including patients with heart failure and disabilities.
Her education includes a BS in Pharmacy from Purdue University (1997), an MD/MPH from Yale University (2002), and a General Internal Medicine Residency at Brown University. She completed a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar fellowship at University of Pennsylvania (2005–2008).
Dr. Lagu’s research spans implementation science, health equity, and cardiology, with over 160 peer-reviewed publications in NEJM, JAMA, and Annals of Internal Medicine. Her recent work examines disability discrimination, cardiac rehabilitation, and healthcare disparities.

- Fellow of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (2024)
She serves as an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Hospital Medicine (2023–present) and previously as Senior Deputy Editor. Her grants include a National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute award to improve care for heart failure patients in risk-based contracts.
