Tanvir I. Farouk is Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in Mechanical Engineering at University of South Carolina. Leads the Reacting Systems and Advanced Energy Research (RASAER) Lab investigating plasma discharges, combustion dynamics, and multiphase reacting flows. Ph.D. from Drexel University with NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship at Princeton.
Research focuses on microgravity droplet combustion phenomena, plasma-assisted energy conversion, and nuclear fuel drying technologies. Key discoveries include oscillatory cool flame behavior and atmospheric plasma functionalization techniques. Current projects funded by DARPA, DOE, NASA and NSF.
