Dr. Tania S. Flink serves as the Director of Problem-Based Learning (OMS1) and Professor of Physiology at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM-Bradenton). With extensive experience in medical education since 2008, she plays a key role in shaping the curriculum for osteopathic medical students.
Dr. Flink's research interests span multiple physiological domains including neurophysiology, vestibular physiology, cardiac physiology, and skeletal physiology. Her work focuses on practical applications that promote wellness and prevent pathologies across diverse populations. Current research projects examine benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), vitamin D deficiency, atrial fibrillation, pre-eclampsia, and the effects of physical activity on various health conditions.
Her publication record demonstrates expertise across multiple physiological systems, with recent work covering vascular interventions, vestibular disorders, medical education outcomes, and exercise science applications. Dr. Flink approaches research with a collaborative mindset, welcoming opportunities to supervise students and work with faculty across disciplines.
Dr. Flink's academic journey began with a BS in Bioengineering and MS in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, followed by a PhD in Exercise Science from Arizona State University. This interdisciplinary background informs her comprehensive approach to physiology education and research.
As an active research mentor in the LECOM Research Internship Program since 2023, Dr. Flink is committed to developing the next generation of medical professionals through meaningful research experiences that bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications in patient care and wellness promotion.
