Tananarive Due is a Continuing Lecturer in African American Studies at UCLA, teaching courses on Black Horror and Afrofuturism. An award-winning author and executive producer of Shudder's documentary 'Horror Noire', she brings 20+ years of expertise in black speculative fiction to her academic work.
Her scholarship examines racial representation in horror genres, Afrofuturist narratives, and civil rights storytelling. Published works span fiction ('Ghost Summer', 'My Soul to Keep') and non-fiction ('Freedom in the Family', co-authored with civil rights activist Patricia Stephens Due).
Industry recognition includes American Book Award, NAACP Image Award, and British Fantasy Award for literary contributions that reshape cultural narratives about race and history. Collaborates with spouse Steven Barnes on screenplay development.
