Tana D. J. Connell

Tana D. J. Connell is an Assistant Professor and MSW Program Director in the Department of Social Work at Delaware State University. She holds a PhD (2016), MSW (2008), and BA (2006) in Social Welfare, English, and Africana Studies from the University at Albany.

Her research focuses on racial disparities in child welfare systems, substance abuse prevention, and culturally adapted interventions. Key interests include addressing systemic inequities impacting marginalized communities, particularly Black women's health experiences and aging populations.

Connell's recent work examines family/community factors influencing racial equity in child welfare responses (2020) and intersectional dynamics among middle-class Black/White women (2016).
