Tammia O'Callaghan

Tammia O’Callaghan is a Lecturer in Criminology at Newman University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts, Society and Professional Studies. With over 12 years of experience in prison education, she has taught at institutions like HMP Birmingham and HMP Oakwood, specializing in rehabilitation and desistance programs for high-risk offenders. She holds a BA and MA in Criminology, a PGCE, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE).

Her research focuses on prison systems, criminal justice reform, and alternatives to incarceration. She actively participates in curriculum design, student recruitment, and academic governance. Administrative roles include personal tutoring, module coordination, and assessment oversight.
