Tamara A. Small

Tamara A. Small is a full Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Guelph. She holds a PhD from Queen’s University. Her research focuses on digital politics, including the impact and use of digital technologies by Canadian political actors. She was a Fulbright Visiting Research Chair at Vanderbilt University (2018) and sits on the Board of Directors of the Institute for Research on Public Policy.

Her research interests include digital campaigning, political communication, Canadian federal and provincial elections, gender in politics, and Ontario politics. She has authored/co-authored multiple books, including Digital Politics in Canada, Fighting for Votes, and Mind the Gaps.

Her work has been supported by SSHRC grants, including a $66,005 Insight Grant (2017–2022) on digital campaigning and a $296,748 grant on online political activity and democratic citizenship.
