Tam Cheetham-West

Tam Cheetham-West is a Gibbs Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Yale University, mentored by Yair Minsky. Previously, they completed their Ph.D. in Mathematics at Rice University under the supervision of Alan Reid. Their research focuses on low-dimensional geometry and topology, particularly the profinite completions of 3-manifold groups and related questions.

Research Interests: Explores geometric and topological structures in low-dimensional spaces, with an emphasis on profinite completions of 3-manifold groups. This work bridges algebraic and geometric approaches to understand manifold properties through their group-theoretic representations.

Professional Activities: Co-organizes the Yale Geometry & Topology seminar with Eduardo Reyes and is a co-organizer for GATSBY (Geometry and Topology Research Group). Upcoming involvement includes the Midwest Summer School in Geometry, Topology, and Dynamics (June 2-6, 2025).
