Talía Dajes

Talía Dajes is an Associate Professor in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Utah. Her research focuses on contemporary Latin American literature, visual culture, and the intersections of aesthetics, memory, and political violence in Peru and the Andean region.

• Education: BA in Audiovisual Communication from Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (2004), PhD in Spanish from University of Michigan–Ann Arbor (2010).

Her scholarly work analyzes spectral figures in Peruvian literature and theater, challenging official narratives of national reconciliation. She explores documentary practices in Peru, emphasizing their role in redefining collective identity and resisting conventional realist representation.

Notable awards include the Early Career Teaching Award (2023) and the LASA Film Section Best Essay Award (2021). She has taught courses on Hispanic film, contemporary Spanish American literature, and PhD thesis research.
