Talvikki Ansel

Talvikki Ansel is a Lecturer and Undergraduate Advisor in the Department of English at the University of Rhode Island. She holds an M.F.A. from Indiana University, Bloomington, and a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College. Her expertise lies in creative writing with a focus on poetry, particularly exploring themes of nature and place.

Her poetry collections include My Shining Archipelago (Yale University Press), Jetty & other poems (Zoo Press), and Somewhere in Space (The Ohio State University Press). Her work has been featured in journals such as Poetry, FIELD, and The Kenyon Review, and anthologized in Firsts: 100 Years of Yale Younger Poets and The Echoing Green: Poems of Fields, Meadows, and Grasses.

Ansel has received prestigious awards including the Pushcart Prize and Wallace Stegner Fellowship, along with residencies at the James Merrill House and Connecticut Audubon’s Trail Wood. She has taught at institutions such as The University of Texas at Austin and Virginia Commonwealth University.
