Dr. Tally Katz-Gerro is an Honorary Reader in Sociology and Research Fellow at the University of Manchester's Sustainable Consumption Institute. Her work bridges consumption, culture, environment, and inequality with cross-national comparisons. She has served on the executive committee of the European Sociological Association and led initiatives like SCORAI-Israel. She has held visiting roles at universities including Turku (Adjunct Professor), Kyung-Hee (Seoul), and Innsbruck. She co-edits Poetics: Journal of Empirical Research on Culture, the Media, and the Arts.
Education: PhD in Sociology from University of California, Berkeley (2000).
Research: Current projects include intergenerational environmental attitudes (US/Israel/S.Korea), ecosystem cultural services (Arava/Scotland), crisis-driven consumption (SE Europe), cultural comparison (US), and cosmopolitanism (Israel/France/Brazil/Korea). She explores environmental governance equity, food waste, and policy symmetry in Manchester.
Awards: AIANI Visiting Professor (2015), ENSAE Paris Fellowship (2014), Kyung Hee Fellowship (2016).
