Dr. Talib Hashim is a Casual Academic in the Faculty of Science at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). He holds a PhD in Mathematics (Numerical Computation) from Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia (2001), preceded by a Master's in Mathematics (General Topology) from the same institution (1997). His career includes roles as an Associate Lecturer (1984–1994), Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Indonesian institutions (1994–2007), and Assistant Professor at International Islamic University Malaysia (2007–2010) before migrating to Australia.
His research focuses on nonlinear systems, numerical computing, applied mathematics, topology, biomathematics, mathematics education, and the history and philosophy of mathematics. Teaching expertise spans computational methods, mathematical modeling, engineering mathematics, differential equations, and the history of mathematics. He has taught the Foundation Mathematics course at UTS from February 2011 to November 2023.
