About
Taal Levi is an Associate Professor in Oregon State University's Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences. His quantitative wildlife ecology research examines human-wildlife interactions, carnivore community ecology, and environmental DNA applications. Current projects span Amazonian deforestation impacts, Pacific Northwest carnivore dynamics, and salmon-wildlife allocations in Alaska.
Research focuses on three interconnected themes: 1) Wildlife responses to anthropogenic landscape changes, 2) Predator-prey dynamics in multi-species systems, and 3) Development of novel monitoring technologies like eDNA and bioacoustics. Work integrates empirical fieldwork with statistical modeling approaches.
Publications demonstrate strong emphasis on carnivore ecology (42% of recent works), molecular monitoring methods (33%), and subsistence harvesting systems (25%). Research consistently addresses conservation applications through collaborations with management agencies and indigenous communities.
