TT Takemoto serves as Professor and Interim Provost at California College of the Arts, teaching in the History of Art and Visual Culture program. They hold a Ph.D. from University of Rochester, MFA from Rutgers University, and BA from UC Berkeley. Takemoto's queer Japanese American perspective informs their exploration of hidden dimensions in Asian American archives through experimental film and performance art.
Their artistic practice employs tactile manipulation of archival materials to reveal suppressed LGBTQ+ histories. Takemoto's films have screened internationally at venues including Documenta 15, Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival, and SFMOMA. Publications examine Asian American identity formation and queer archival methodologies across art history, visual culture, and performance studies.
