TRACEY BARNES

Tracey Barnes is a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing at Edge Hill University, affiliated with the Faculty of Health and Social Care. She has extensive clinical experience in genito-urinary medicine, district nursing, and community nursing with a focus on infection prevention, anatomy/physiology, and tissue viability. Her academic roles include cohort lead, year of study lead, and recruitment lead, alongside governance roles such as public governor at Aintree University Hospital Trust (2012–2018).

Education:

• MSc Health Professional Education (University of Huddersfield, 2005)
• Other qualifications include nurse prescribing, complementary therapies, and OSCE training.

Research Interests: Tracey’s work focuses on combating healthcare-associated infections, particularly MRSA, and improving healthcare quality through programs like the NHS’s Open and Honest Care initiative. She also engages in public health policy and clinical education innovations.
