- PhD (1997): Earth Sciences (Geography), UMCS
- Habilitation (2008): Geography, UMCS
His research focuses on glacial geomorphology, Quaternary stratigraphy, and palaeoenvironmental reconstruction. Key areas include kame genesis, ice margin dynamics, and interglacial sediment analysis. Recent work examines Eemian lake evolution and Holsteinian fluvial systems.
His 2025 article on Neighbouring Eemian Lakes explores palaeohydrological controls on lake evolution during warm periods. Earlier studies (2014-2022) address glacial till petrography, gully erosion mechanisms, and Carpathian Foreland ice sheet chronology.
Terpiłowski contributes to regional geomorphological mapping projects like Physico-geographical mesoregions of Poland (2018) and collaborates with leading institutions across Europe. He currently leads fieldwork at the Bug River valley and continues active research through Piotr Kulesza's Lab.
