Søren Hess

Søren Hess is a Clinical Associate Professor and Head of Department at the Department of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark, with a clinical and research base in the Research Unit of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine at Odense University Hospital (OUH). He is actively engaged in nuclear medicine imaging, particularly in the application of FDG PET/CT for diagnosing complex clinical conditions.

His research interests center on Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography (PET/CT), with a strong focus on fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) imaging in fever of unknown origin (FUO), bacteremia, cancer, and inflammatory diseases. His work bridges clinical diagnostics and advanced imaging techniques, contributing significantly to evidence-based practices in nuclear medicine.

The recent trend in his publications shows a consistent emphasis on the diagnostic utility of FDG PET/CT in infection and inflammation, including contributions to EANM consensus guidelines.
