Sérgio da Silva

Sérgio da Silva is a Professor of Psychology at Cornerstone University’s School of Education & Human Services, where he teaches courses such as General Psychology, Statistics and Research Methods, Health Psychology, Physiological Psychology, and Cross-Cultural Psychology. He earned a Ph.D. from Central Michigan University, an M.A. from Universidade de São Paulo, and B.A. degrees from Biblical Seminary of São Paulo and Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas in Brazil.

Dr. da Silva’s research spans psychophysiological responses in forgiveness, cross-cultural teaching methodologies, and the integration of service-learning into psychology education. His recent work explores autonomic nervous system activity during attention tasks, self-assessment tools for affective research, and interdisciplinary intersections of science and religion. Publications highlight his focus on cardiac responses, cognitive aging, and neurocognitive performance in simulated environments.

His scientific achievements include the 2012 Michigan Campus Compact Faculty/Staff Community Service-Learning Award. Dr. da Silva also emphasizes practical research engagement and cross-cultural understanding in his pedagogical approach.
