Sylvie LETNIOWSKA-SWIAT is an Associate Professor at the University of Artois, affiliated with the Faculty of Historical and Geographical Sciences. Her research focuses on peri-urban spaces, borders, cross-border spaces, territorial vulnerability, and spatial discontinuities, particularly in Amazonian regions like the lower Oyapock and Maroni rivers.

She teaches Geography at the University of Artois and has led administrative roles including department director (2009-2012) and CAPES jury participation (2009-2012). Her research integrates cartographic analysis and spatial modeling to understand environmental risks and cross-border interactions.
