Sybil Sharvelle is Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University and Technical Director of the Spur Campus Water Technology Accelerator Platform (Water TAP). She holds BS and MS degrees from the University of Colorado and a PhD from Purdue University.
Her research addresses water reuse (graywater/reclaimed water), integrated urban water management, waste-to-energy conversion, and decentralized water systems. Sharvelle leads projects funded by Water Research Foundation, USEPA, and NSF, focusing on fit-for-purpose water systems for sustainable communities.
As Technical Director of the Water TAP facility, she advances testing of water treatment technologies for diverse water sources. Research contributions include stormwater quality characterization, anaerobic digestion optimization, nutrient recovery, and risk assessment for non-potable water systems.
Sharvelle served on the National Research Council Committee for Beneficial Use of Graywater and Stormwater and chaired the NWRI panel for Decentralized Non-Potable Water Systems.
