About
Dr. Swastika Bithi is an Assistant Professor of Engineering at the College of Engineering, West Texas A&M University. She holds a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (2004), an M.S. from the University of North Dakota (2008), and a Ph.D. from Texas Tech University (2013). Before joining WTAMU, she served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Research Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University.
Her research focuses on fluid mechanics, bioengineering, and material science, with emphasis on microfluidic technologies and phase change materials. Her CMF Lab develops advanced microfluidic platforms for applications in environmental monitoring, cancer diagnostics, and material characterization. Key equipment includes soft lithography facilities, microscopy systems, and a WT-MFSDA nucleation module.
Dr. Bithi has secured three patents for microfluidic bioassay techniques and published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. She teaches courses in Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, and Engineering Ethics, and actively participates in STEM education initiatives like the Texas Panhandle Water Science Program. Professional memberships include American Institute of Chemical Engineers and Society of Women Engineers.
Her work bridges fundamental research and practical applications, with recent efforts in atmospheric ice nucleation studies and cancer cell proliferation analysis. Ongoing projects aim to enhance thermal energy storage systems through nanostructured phase change materials.
