About
Swarnima Agnihotri is an Associate Professor at the Swedish Centre for Resource Recovery, University of Borås, working since 2015. Her research focuses on converting lignocellulosic and organic waste into biofuels, biomaterials, and food/feed ingredients through biorefinery processes.
- PhD in Industrial Biotechnology from IIT Roorkee (2009)
- Postdoctoral work at NTNU on the LignoRef project (2010-2012)
Her work integrates fiber chemistry, microbial biotechnology, and process engineering to develop scalable resource recovery solutions. Current projects investigate lignin valorization via organosolv/hydrothermal methods and protein-rich fungal biomass production.
Recent publications focus on cascade processing of agricultural/forest/marine waste, dairy waste valorization via fungal cultivation, and integrated biorefinery approaches in the pulp/paper industry. Key sub-fields include waste-to-food strategies, fungal protein systems, and lignin conversion techniques.
- Co-supervises doctoral students at University of Borås
- Supervises external student Shubhra Sharma at Shobhit Institute of Engineering & Technology
