Sven Hassler is an Associate Professor in Public Health Research at Karlstad University (KAU), joining in 2021 after previous roles at University West and Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. His research focuses on health promotion, social sustainability, and equitable health distribution, particularly among children, youth, and aging populations. Current projects include a 3-year collaborative initiative developing a model for mental health promotion in schools ('Hand in hand we stand') and co-supervision of a PhD student examining long-term care needs in Indonesia's aging population. Past work includes epidemiological studies on Sami populations and socioeconomic determinants of health.

Advising & Grants: Assistant supervisor for a Gothenburg University PhD project on Indonesia's aging population care needs. Previously contributed to interdisciplinary global health education programs and youth substance abuse prevention initiatives.
Labs/Teams: Active in KAU's child/youth health research group, collaborating with Department of Public Health colleagues on qualitative and quantitative health studies.
