About
Professor Svea Petersen is a faculty member at the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science (IuI) at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. As Vice Dean of the faculty, she coordinates the Master's program in Applied Materials Science and leads two specialized laboratories: the Laboratory for Polymer Chemistry and Analytics (formerly Organic Chemistry and Polymer Chemistry) and the Laboratory for Chemistry and Surface Modification (formerly Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry).
Research Focus: Her work centers on polymer chemistry, surface modification of biomaterials, dental material analysis, and polymer analytics. Key subfields include leachables/extractables analysis, biomedical polymer applications, and advanced surface characterization techniques.
Publication Trends: Recent articles emphasize surface energy determination in complex geometries, stability of medical-grade polymers under processing conditions, antimicrobial dental materials, and plasma-treated biomedical polymers. Her work spans both fundamental polymer science and applied biomedical engineering contexts.
Laboratory Leadership: She oversees polymer chemistry research facilities and contributes to interdisciplinary projects in biomedical materials development.
