Suzanne Lane

Suzanne Lane is a part-time postgraduate researcher at York St John University within the School of Education, Language and Psychology. She concurrently holds a full-time role as a Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordinator (SENDCO) in an independent all-through school in central London. With nearly 30 years of teaching experience, she specializes in dyslexia assessment and instruction, alongside mainstream teaching in Psychology and Information Technology.

Her research focuses on the professional experiences of SENDCOs, particularly their working lives and challenges within secondary education. She actively participates in communities of practice to support fellow SENDCOs, emphasizing collaborative professional development.

Ms. Lane’s career spans diverse educational settings across Yorkshire, with a current emphasis on London-based practice. Her work bridges academic research and practical educational leadership, advocating for inclusive practices in special needs education.
