Associate Professor Susy Macqueen is an applied linguist at ANU's School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics specializing in language assessment fairness and healthcare communication. As Co-President of ALTAANZ, she advances ethical language testing standards.
Her research examines how language assessments impact high-stakes decisions in migration, healthcare, and education. Current projects focus on telehealth communication safety and Indigenous language education programs.
Recent publications analyze laughter in emergency departments, fatigue intervention accessibility, and multicultural policy frameworks. Research consistently addresses equity issues in language proficiency evaluation.
