About
Sushmita Pamidi is an Associate Professor at the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, McGill University, and a Scientist at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) at the 5252 de Maisonneuve site. Her work bridges clinical research and translational studies in respiratory diseases.
Her research focuses on the cardiometabolic consequences of sleep apnea in both general and pregnant populations. She investigates how sleep-disordered breathing affects glucose metabolism, fetal growth, and cardiovascular parameters, with an emphasis on randomized controlled trials to assess treatment implications via continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy.
Recent publications highlight her contributions to understanding gestational diabetes complications linked to maternal sleep disorders, CPAP’s role in prediabetes glucose improvement, and global meta-analyses on blood pressure outcomes. Her work is frequently cited in Thorax, Chest, and the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
