About
Susanne Brander is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental and Molecular Toxicology at Oregon State University. As an ecotoxicologist, her research integrates organismal responses to endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) and environmental stressors like microplastics across biological hierarchies. Her work examines mechanisms of toxicity and links laboratory findings to ecosystem responses, with particular focus on EDC impacts during early development.
Research Focus: Brander investigates multigenerational effects of contaminants, climate change interactions, and ecological forecasting. Current projects examine gene expression changes, reproductive behavior alterations, sex ratio shifts, and population dynamics in aquatic species exposed to pesticides and pharmaceuticals.
Awards:
- Delta Science Pre-Doctoral Fellowship
- NSF CAMEOS GK-12 Fellowship
- Jastro-Shields Research Scholarship
- First Place Student Platform Presentation (SETAC NorCal)
