Susanna Ågren

Susanna Ågren is an Associate Professor of Nursing at the Department of Nursing and Reproductive Health, within the Faculty of Medicine at Linköping University. Her research focuses on frail patients in intensive care, person-centered care, and health literacy, particularly in heart surgery and critical illness contexts. She is also a course director for nursing program final years and an examiner at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Her research group explores family functioning, health-promoting conversations, and decision support for critically ill patients. Key projects include interventions to improve health-related quality of life and prevent deterioration through patient-centered approaches.

Ågren has received awards such as the First Prize Nursing Investigator's Award (2009) and Mölnlycke Travel Award. She supervises doctoral students at LiU and Örebro University, and her work involves international collaborations through networks like TASTE (meta-analysis of heart failure data) and CESAR (heart care coordination).
