Susanna Eismann

Dr. Susanna Eismann is a Lecturer and Research Assistant in the Department of Japanese Studies at the University of Trier. She has held this position since March 2000, following a brief term as a Research Assistant in 1999–2000. Additionally, she teaches German Linguistics and Literature at Reitaku University (partner institution of University of Trier) since October 1999. Her educational background includes studies in Japanese Studies, German Studies, and Art History at Ruhr University Bochum, University of Nagoya, and University of Trier, culminating in a 1999 Master's degree in Contemporary Japanese Studies and German Studies.

Her research focuses on:

• Japanese language pedagogy, particularly reading didactics for foreign learners
• Text-linguistic analysis of literary genres
• Intercultural competency development through bilingual education
• Curriculum design for Japanese language programs

Her publications (2000–2006) consistently explore language teaching methodologies, with emphases on:

• Practical applications in secondary/higher education
• Cross-cultural communication frameworks
• Analysis of media and literary texts for pedagogical use

Dr. Eismann organizes intercultural German-Japanese tandem courses since 1997/98 and co-developed bilingual project teaching methods. She contributed to major academic events including the 1999 German-Speaking Japanologists' Conference organization.

She maintains parallel professional activities as a freelance Japanese-German interpreter and translator since 1988.
