About
Susan V. H. Castro is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Wichita State University's Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She directs the Academic Center for Biomedical and Health Humanities and holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from Georgia Tech. Her interdisciplinary research bridges Kantian philosophy with contemporary science and biomedical humanities.
Castro's research spans two primary tracks: (1) Kant scholarship focused on establishing a metaphysics of morals as a non-empirical science, with applications in autism theory, algorithmic justice, humor cognition, and Japanese art philosophy; (2) Biomedical humanities informed by her work on the Human Genome Project, addressing current issues in medical philosophy and cyberethics.
She teaches diverse courses including History of Ethics, Philosophy of Law, Philosophy of Medicine, Ethics of Big Data, and Feminist Philosophy. Her pedagogical approach integrates theoretical rigor with practical applications across disciplines.
