Susan Tusing

Susan Tusing, D.M.A., serves as Marshall University's Chief University Accreditation Officer, overseeing institutional compliance with Higher Learning Commission (HLC) standards and managing program-accreditation records. She acts as HLC Accreditation Liaison Officer and Peer Corps member, and was appointed Academic Affairs Faculty Fellow in 2022 to lead Marshall's 2026 HLC comprehensive evaluation.

Dr. Tusing specializes in higher education accreditation systems, with deep expertise in National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) standards. Her career bridges music education administration and institutional accreditation, having directed NASM-accredited programs while holding leadership roles in NASM governance. As an active pianist, she maintains performance experience that informs her understanding of arts education assessment.

Her grant leadership includes a Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad that facilitated international professional development across three post-Soviet nations. Current responsibilities focus on strategic accreditation planning, with emphasis on Marshall University's upcoming 10-year HLC review and continuous improvement of accreditation processes across academic units.
