Susan Stephen is a Senior Lecturer in Counselling and Director of the Strathclyde Counselling & Psychotherapy Research Clinic at the University of Strathclyde. Her research focuses on congruent functioning in person-centred-experiential therapy, including client and counselor development. She developed the Strathclyde Inventory, a self-report tool for measuring therapeutic outcomes, and collaborates internationally to explore its intercultural relevance.
Her expertise includes hermeneutic single case efficacy design methodology and routine outcome measurement in counseling practice. She serves as co-editor of the Person-Centered & Experiential Psychotherapies journal and former Chair of WAPCEPC.

Research emphasizes therapeutic process/outcome analysis with 13 publications including a 2024 handbook on contemporary person-centered approaches.
