Susan Shapiro is Associate Professor of Judaic Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she serves as Director of the Religious Studies Certificate Program. Her research specializes in Jewish philosophy, philosophy of religion, gender studies, and political and cultural theory. She holds an adjunct appointment in the German Program in the Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures.
Her published work appears in prominent journals including the Journal of the American Academy of Religion, Semeia: A Journal of Biblical Interpretation, and Judaism. Her teaching portfolio includes courses on The Jewish Experience, Religion and State, Post-Holocaust Thought, and Women, Gender and Judaism.
