Susan Rowley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology and a Curator at the Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at the University of British Columbia. She actively contributes to heritage discourse as a member of the Reciprocal Research Network (RRN) Steering Group and through curatorial work, including co-curating the exhibit c̓əsnaʔəm, the city before the city at MOA.
Her research focuses on public archaeology, material culture studies, representation, repatriation, intellectual property rights, and equitable access to cultural heritage information. She explores how museums and heritage institutions can engage in ethical practices, particularly regarding Indigenous communities' rights and collaborative knowledge-sharing frameworks.
