Professor Susan Rees is a full-time academic at University of New South Wales (UNSW) in the Faculty of Medicine, holding a Professor position in Psychiatry and Mental Health. She also serves on the Faculty of the Global Mental Health Course at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard Program in Global Trauma. Her work focuses on the mental health of conflict-affected populations, trauma, gender-based violence, and collaborations with First Nations academics.
- Education: PhD, MSoc.Pol (Hons 1), BCW, and a Certificate in Global Mental Health: Trauma and Recovery from Harvard.
Research Interests span trauma studies, mental health interventions in post-conflict settings, social policy analysis, and mixed-methods approaches to cohort studies and program evaluations. Her projects include large-scale cohort studies in Timor-Leste and Indonesia, remote First Nations community interventions, and cross-disciplinary work on intimate partner violence and adolescent mental health.
