Susan R. Lesser

Susan R. Lesser is an Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing within the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). Her academic and professional focus spans immunization studies, maternal health, and public health nursing.

• Education: PhD in Nursing from University of Texas Health Science Center, MSN in Education from University of Hartford, BSN from University of Colorado Health Science Center.

Research interests include patient attitudes toward postpartum immunization, neonatal nursing practices, and health behavior interventions. Her 2021 publication in BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth explores decision-making barriers for pertussis and influenza vaccinations among postpartum patients.

She has received notable honors including the Local Hero Award from the American Lung Association and AHA Recognition for Exceptional Community Programs. Professional affiliations include Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and the American Nurses in Professional Development.
