Susan Nelson is an Associate Professor of Bassoon and Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), Ohio. She serves dual roles in the College of Musical Arts' Woodwinds department and administrative staff. Her career spans performance, teaching, and advocacy for contemporary bassoon chamber music.
Education includes degrees from the University of Kansas, University of Oklahoma, and University of Michigan under teachers Jeffrey Lyman, Carl Rath, and Alan Hawkins. She is a Fox Artist and directs the Bassoon Chamber Music Composition Competition (BCMCC), co-founding the Across the Grain bassoon/percussion duo.
