Susan Kueh

Dr. Susan Kueh is an Associate Professor and Principal Research Fellow in Aquatic Animal Health at James Cook University (Singapore Campus). She leads research in tropical aquaculture disease management, with a focus on barramundi (Lates calcarifer) health. Her roles include academic leadership at JCU, Murdoch University, and the AgriFood & Veterinary Authority of Singapore. She has over three decades of experience in government and academia, spanning disease surveillance, biosecurity, and aquaculture pathology.

Current projects include microbiome dynamics in fish farms and sustainable feed alternatives using black soldier fly larvae.

Key awards include Crawford Fund grants for capacity-building in Timor-Leste and industry-funded research on functional feed additives. She supervises PhD students on barramundi epidemiology and pathobiology. Dr. Kueh’s work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals to enhance aquaculture’s role in poverty alleviation.
