About
Susan Ibi Preus is a Postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), working in the Cell Diversity Lab. Her research spans biomedical engineering, microfluidics, and computer vision for diagnostic applications in both medical and food science domains.
Her primary research focuses on developing microfluidic sample preparation techniques and biosensors, with significant contributions to computer vision-based lateral flow assay digitalization and milk analysis for lipase/bile salts detection. This interdisciplinary work integrates engineering, biotechnology, and computer science to advance point-of-care diagnostics and food safety testing.
Publications from 2018-2024 reveal a consistent trajectory toward engineering-driven diagnostic solutions, evolving from wound monitoring microfluidics to AI-enhanced dairy analysis systems. This demonstrates growing sophistication in merging hardware design with algorithmic processing for real-world diagnostic challenges.
She recently completed an Industrial PhD project (2022-2025) on microfluidics-assisted sample preparation for single cell proteomics, supervised by Prof. Schoof and Prof. Svendsen. This industry-collaborative project secured dedicated funding for advancing proteomic analysis technologies.
As a core member of DTU's Cell Diversity Lab, Dr. Preus contributes to single-cell analysis research and next-generation diagnostic device development within interdisciplinary engineering and biomedical teams.
