Susan Hinze

Professor Susan Hinze is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies at Case Western Reserve University. Her work bridges medical sociology, gender studies, and social inequality, with a focus on structural influences on health outcomes and professional experiences in medicine.

• Education: Ph.D. in Sociology from Vanderbilt University (1995)

Her research examines:

• Medical culture and disparities (e.g., sexual harassment in training, racial bias in emergency care)
• Intersectional analysis of gender, race, and class in older women’s health
• Work-family dynamics among physicians and global poverty frameworks
• Temporal inequality in healthcare contexts
