Susan Hazel

Associate Professor Susan Hazel is affiliated with the School of Animal and Veterinary Science at The University of Adelaide. A veterinarian by training, she teaches animal behaviour, welfare, and ethics across all four undergraduate programs in her school. Her research focuses on companion animals, exploring human-animal interactions, animal management, and maximizing mutual well-being.

Over her career since 2006, Hazel has supervised more than 30 honours projects and 10 PhDs, contributing to 90+ scientific publications. Her work bridges academic research with practical applications in companion animal management, therapeutic human-animal interventions, and veterinary ethics.
