Susan Giles

Susan Giles is a Professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's Contemporary Practices department. She holds a BFA from the University of Colorado (1992), MAAE from SAIC (1997), and MFA from Northwestern University (2001). Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues including Hyde Park Art Center, Galería Valle Ortí (Valencia, Spain), and Mixed Greens (New York).

Her research focuses on interdisciplinary art and design practices, emphasizing the intersection of historical context and contemporary art production. Courses she teaches include Core Studio Practice I/II, Research Studio I, and 'RS:Yes, and...' which explores improvisational practices in visual arts.

Professional recognition includes prestigious awards such as the Fulbright Full Grant to Indonesia, Louis Comfort Tiffany Award, and Illinois Arts Council Visual Artist Fellowship. Her work has been featured in prominent publications like Artforum and The Architect's Newspaper.
